Police are urging drivers to take care behind the wheel after South Australia’s road toll climbed to 101 yesterday.
Two people were killed near the Victorian border after their collided with a Toyota near the intersection of Riddoch Highway Road and McGrice Road in Willalooka about 9.40am yesterday.
A 77-year-old man and 65-year-old woman, who were both from Victoria and were travelling together in the Ford, died at the scene.
The driver of the Toyota, a 21-year-old Padthaway man, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
The crash occurred hours before South Australia Police Commissioner Grant Stevens’ youngest son died after being by a car on Friday.
Charlie Stevens, 18, was on Beach Road at Goolwa Beach, about 67 kilometres south of the Adelaide, for an end-of-school celebration when he was allegedly struck by a car at 9pm on Friday.
He was airlifted to Flinders Medical Centre with an irreversible brain injury, where he died last night.
The driver has since been charged with a number of offences including causing death by dangerous driving.
The 18-year-old’s death marked the 101st lives lost on South Australian roads this year compared to 61 at the same time last year.
