Speed limits dropping as much as 30km/h on some Sydney streets

Sydney motorists have been warned that speed limits are about to drop drastically on some busy streets.

Twelve roads in the Canterbury-Bankstown council area and one in Wollondilly will have their limits dropped by up to 30km/h over the next two weeks.

Menangle Road in Menangle is dropping from 80km/h to 50km/h in response to “community concerns”, the NSW government said.

The 12 roads in Canterbury-Bankstown Councill – all in Chester Hill – will drop by 10 or 20km/h as part of the changes.

The stretch of road between Waldron Road and Proctor Parade on Chester Hill Road will drop from 60km/h to 40km/h.

Those changes have been made as a high pedestrian activity area has been established in the town centre, the NSW government said.
