Sri Lankan student in Australia critically injured in unprovoked attack

A Sri Lankan international student in Perth, Australia, is fighting for his life after being coward punched by a stranger, the Australian media reported.

Geeth Madushanka, 28, was attacked at a BP petrol station in Langford, Perth, around 10 pm on May 25. Police allege that the 30-year-old attacker identified as Cyril Benedict Garlett, pushed and then punched Madushanka in the face, causing him to fall and hit his head.

Officers claim that Garlett had already attacked two other men earlier that day. Madushanka, who has been studying in Perth since February, remains in the ICU of Royal Perth Hospital, a week after the incident.

His loved ones are raising money for his treatment on GoFundMe, stating he faces a “long road ahead.” So far, they have raised $9,000. Garlett has been charged with grievous bodily harm, assault occasioning bodily harm, and criminal damage or destruction of property. (Daily Mail)
