Stunning aurora display dazzles Australia’s skies

A stunning aurora display has lit up Australia’s skies from multiple states.

Jagadeesh Herur captured the dazzling pink and purple hues from Williamstown in Melbourne.

Herur woke up at 5am to get a glimpse of the aurora australis, also known as the southern lights.

Williamstown was an ideal spot to get a front row seat to the action.

Experts say the prime locations to observe the southern lights are by a dark beach or a hill with minimal light pollution.

Perth residents were also treated to the colourful geomagnetic storms.

This photo was taken at at Mindarie in Perth’s north at 2.30am on October 11.
