Taylor Swift fan’s panic after $4000 of concert tickets ‘disappear’

A Taylor Swift fan who purchased more than $4000 worth of tickets for himself and friends for an upcoming concert says he was shocked when his tickets appeared to have “disappeared” from his Ticketek account.

Ben*, a Melbourne local, says he purchased four A Reserve tickets for the Eras Tour concert for himself and his friends.

However, when Ben checked his account just weeks out from the event he believed his tickets had been stolen by a hacker.

“When my partner logged into his Ticketek account using his email address from his laptop, his customer number had been changed and there were no Taylor Swift tickets in the account

Ben added they later located the tickets in their account, however, it appeared the details had been changed to fake names and an address in WA, making them unusable.

“So at this stage, we can’t go to the concert,” he said.

While Ticketek confirmed it was investigating Ben’s report, it said its teams had been inundated with reports relating to ticket issues in the lead-up to Taylor Swift’s tour.

“Unfortunately, our team are also dealing with thousands of queries that either relate to fraudulent tickets or other scams,”

“The Ticketek team are constantly monitoring web and social channels to detect and remove any such sites. Unfortunately, these are indicative of the lengths unscrupulous fraudsters will go to capitalise on the Taylor phenomenon.

“We will continue to dedicate significant responses to ensure that real fans are protected.”
