Telstra shuts down major service

Telstra has announced its movie streaming platform will shut down next month.

Telstra TV Box Office will no longer be available after June 30.

The platform currently allows customers to buy or rent movies, including new releases.

Many films can be purchased using Telstra Plus points, which are accrued based on the customers’ account spend every month.

Telstra TV Box Office will be replaced by set-top box Fetch, which will provide customers with the same entertainment services.

Users have until June 16 to rent movies from Telstra TV Box Office. From then, customers will only be able to access the content in their library, including rented movies that haven’t expired.

Customers will then be able to move most of the content in their library to their Fetch account.

“You can move most of your library to Fetch from Telstra. This functionality is available now,” Telstra said.

“You can only move purchased content, not rentals.”

The ability to move films from the Telstra TV Box Office library to Fetch will cease on January 31, 2025.

Telstra TV Box Office, formerly BigPond Movies, has been running for 15 years.
