The most popular cars for Australians in April 

Car sales continue to surge in Australia, with 97,202 models sold during April, according to data from the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries.

That pushed the year-to-date sales to 401,654, up more than 50,515 vehicles compared with the same year-to-date point in 2023.

FCAI also crunched the numbers to find out which exactly were the 10 most popular cars with Australians in April – move through this gallery to find out.

10. Mitsubishi Outlander

People bought 1848 Outlanders in April, up one per cent on the 1829 sold in April 2023.

Camry sales this April were a whopping 226.3 per cent higher than last April, with 1873 compared to 574.

The Corolla was another model much more popular in April this year than last, with 2097 sold during the month compared to 791 in the same period last year – a whopping 165.1 per cent increase.

Vendors moved 2380 D-MAX utes in April, 31.6 per cent up on the 1809 sold in April 2023.

That’s a whopping 254.5 per cent increase.

With 4693 models sold in April, 33.1 per cent up on last year, the Hilux was Australia’s third most popular car for the month.

And with a huge leap of 166 per cent in sales, from 2198 last April to 5857 this one, the Toyota RAV4 was the month’s best-selling car for Australia.
