It is as Easter Show as the fresh lemonade stands, the stock from the lands, and the regular marching bands; show food on a stick.
“We roll them in different assortments, like sprinkles, Snickers, apple pie and cookies, as well as pretzels,” says chief caramel stirrer Joseph Dunn.
“An apple pie apple, I’m intrigued,” I queried.
“It’s the cinnamon biscuit base with white chocolate,” says Joseph.
I elected for the amalgam of salt and sweet with pretzels, the next generation toffee apple.
“I’ve probably lost a couple of teeth to them in the past,” I confess, mid mauling of my pretzel apple.
“Everyone loves a thing on a stick, right?” says Joseph.
“That’s show food! You’re fulfilling the criteria,” I confirm.
Your main meal is stickless, but still very much Show; the parmie pie.
“Marinated chicken infused with tomato, layed with smoked ham, chicken parmie sauce, then smashed with cheese inside,” says self-confessed pie father Michael Disalvatore.
And for dessert, lamington on a stick.
“It’s a lamington with a strawberry, dipped in chocolate, and then you have a choice of icing sugar or sherbet as extra coating,” says Michelle Smith from Ian’s Ice Cream.
My cry immediately goes out: “Sherbert please.”
After a few seconds of mastication, I gently inquire, “have I got any round my mouth?”
“Yes you do,” says Michelle.
“Good,” I say. It’s a sign that one has experienced the latest in stick based nutrition at this year’s Easter Show.
