Steps have been taken to suspend the system of fines set for parking without tickets in the state of New South Wales.
It was alleged that this system of fines is very unfair and the state government has taken steps to ban the system of fines without tickets after conducting investigations.
This fine system was introduced in the year 2020 and many people were accused of issuing fines not on the day of the offense but a few weeks after the offence.
It is also stated that the amount of parking fines issued has increased by about 50 percent since the beginning of this fine system.
State Finance Minister Courtney Housos called the system unfair and said she did not want anyone to be fined for parking.
Accordingly, the Penalty Amendment Bill allows council officers to issue on-the-spot fines for parking offenses and it is stated that they must also obtain a photograph of the alleged offence.
