Toyota Kluger models recalled over issue with bumper cover

More than 30,000 Toyota vehicles have been recalled over a defect that could lead to an increased risk of an accident.

The defect impacts Kluger Hybrids and Kluger Petrols made between 2021-2023 and includes: Kluger Hybrid AWD 2.5L, Kluger Petrol 2WD 2.4L, Kluger Petrol 2WD 3.5L, Kluger Petrol AWD 2.4L and Kluger Petrol AWD 3.5L.

According to the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts, the car’s bumper cover may fall off if it is damaged while the car is being used.

“If the lower bumper detaches, it could cause a potential road hazard and increase the risk of an accident and serious injury or death to vehicle occupants and/or other road users,” the department said.

Toyota will contact affected customers in writing to schedule an appointment to install more efficient fasteners on the cover.

The work will be done free of charge.

Customers who want more information should contact the Toyota Recall Assist helpline on 1800 987 366.
