Two arrested after $45m worth of cocaine allegedly found in buses in SA

Cocaine worth an estimated $45m has allegedly been found hidden in luxury buses being shipped to Australia.

The AFP and Australian Border Force announced the mega drug bust, saying it was the second-largest drug seizure in South Australia.

In total, 139kg of cocaine was allegedly seized, which police have said is the equivalent of about 695,000 street drug deals.

Two Victorian men, aged 19 and 22, have been arrested over the haul and face life in prison.

Detective Superintendent Melinda Adam from Australian Federal Police said the find “prevented significant harm to our communities.”

The drugs were found hidden in four out of 13 luxury buses on cargo ship Gracious Ace heading for Adelaide.

Officials searched the buses at Freemantle in WA during a scheduled stop on its voyage from Singapore last month.

They found the packages of drugs in four of the buses, including hidden in a roof vent

The drugs were switched out by officers, and the buses were landed and parked in Mansfield Park, Port Adelaide as planned.

Two men allegedly forced entry to take the packages on February 3.
