UN Special Report on Temporary Migration Visa holders in Australia

The United Nations Organization has released a report on Australia’s temporary migrant workers and according to the report, it is reported that some employers are exploiting temporary migrant workers.

It is said that these immigrants are subjected to illegal recruitment, low payment or withholding of wages, harsh working conditions.

In particular, it has been reported that women with temporary visas are fired even if they become pregnant and women with temporary visas are subjected to sexual harassment.
The report was presented by the United Nations Special Rapporteur on Contemporary Slavery, Tomoya Obokata, who completed his official visit to Australia.

The federal government invited Professor Obokata to Australia and he reportedly visited Melbourne, Riverna in South West New South Wales, Canberra, Sydney and Brisbane during the two-week visit.

He has reported his findings to the United Nations in Geneva and once again the United Nations has drawn attention to Australia.
