The police have arrested 5 Vietnamese nationals in connection with a cannabis plantation that had been carefully cultivated on a plot of land in the South Gippsland area of the state of Victoria.
It is stated that the police officers arrived at a house in South Leongatha last Tuesday morning and arrested five Vietnamese nationals between the ages of 25 and 54, including a woman who was there in connection with this ganja trafficking.
The police said that the suspects have been cultivating cannabis for commercial purposes in specially prepared chambers.
The find, worth more than $26 million, is reported to be the largest haul of cannabis ever found in Victoria’s history.
The police have found a lot ranging from small plants weighing 1.7 tons to mature cannabis plants.
A total of 6,525 marijuana plants were found, with an estimated street value of more than $26 million.
The Victoria Police have destroyed these cannabis plants and the suspects have been remanded until they appear before the Latrobe Valley Magistrate’s Court on March 7 next year.
