Sri Lanka’s Vishmi Gunaratne has become the first Sri Lanka Women’s player other than Chamari Athapaththu to score an ODI Century in the 1st ODI against Ireland being played in Belfast.
Gunaratne smashed an impressive total of 101 in just 98 deliveries helping Sri Lanka to reach 194/5 against Ireland at the end of 38 overs.
On a day when her opening partner Chamari Athapaththu fell for a first-ball duck, 18-year-old Gunaratne took charge and blazed away to a maiden ODI hundred. The right-handed batter was watchful at the start, but once she took off with a six in the sixth over, there was no stopping Sri Lanka’s former U19 captain.
Her ton came off merely 97 deliveries and included nine fours and three sixes.
