Voting began at 7 a.m. today in Sri Lanka’s crucial presidential election, with 38 candidates competing for the position. The polls will remain open until 4 p.m. at 13,421 polling centers across the island.
The Election Commission expects a robust voter turnout, in line with the nation’s history of high participation, which saw an 83.72% turnout in the last presidential election in 2019.
