weather warning for people of Victoria

There is a possibility of thunderstorms and giant hail in most parts of Victoria today and a tornado warning has been issued for some areas.

The State Emergency Service (SES) has warned that these tornado conditions are possible for the north-east of Victoria.

Heavy rains and storms have already occurred in Melbourne, Geelong, Bellarine and Mornington peninsulas, Port Phillip, Western Port and there is a possibility of flash flooding.

22 mm of rain has been received in two hours this morning in Point Cook area.

Areas around Melbourne are said to be heavily affected due to the low pressure system moving towards Victoria.

Emergency Services Victoria’s David Baker is urging Victorians to protect lightweight items outside as the strong winds can have severe impacts.

It is also requested to avoid driving on the roads in the affected areas.
