A woman in Oregon is being recognized by Guinness World Records for having a tongue circumference larger than the size of a soda can.
Jenny DuVander’s tongue measures 5.21 inches around, the largest of any woman in the world.
Her dentist officially measured her tongue with floss on May 17, 2023.
She told Guinness she has to flex her tongue to measure it because “if my tongue was always that large, I don’t think I’d be able to talk.”
DuVander’s son inspired her to apply for the record title for largest tongue circumference for a female.
“My son, Evan, loves Guinness World Records and pores through the hardcover books every year. My record is definitely inspired by his love of facts and human abilities,” DuVander said.
She plays the flute and says her strong tongue is useful for playing fast notes.
“When you articulate a note on a flute, they actually call it tonguing,” DuVander explained.
According to GWR, she can do a tongue curl and bowl trick with her tongue, but not the clover.
When asked the best part of having the largest tongue circumference (female), Jenny told GWR, “Well, now it’s being a Guinness World Records title holder for sure.”
