Queen Camilla rushes to King Charles’s bedside after hospitalisation

King Charles is doing “fine” after having a planned treatment to address an enlarged prostate on Friday, according to his wife Queen Camilla.

On Friday, Camilla was spotted arriving at the private London Clinic in West London where her husband is being treated, the same hospital where Kate, the Princess of Wales, is also having treatment after undergoing abdominal surgery last week.

The Queen appeared in high spirits and told the assembled media Charles was “fine” as she left the clinic several hours later.

In an earlier statement, the palace thanked the public for their “good wishes” ahead of the monarch’s procedure, which has caused a spike in searches for prostate checks in the United Kingdom.

“His Majesty would like to thank all those who have sent their good wishes over the past week and is delighted to learn that his diagnosis is having a positive impact on public health awareness,” the palace said.

Britain’s National Health Service (NHS) said there had been a 1,000 per cent increase in visits to its webpage giving advice on prostate enlargement since Charles’s diagnosis was revealed last week.

The palace declined to specify how long the king would stay in hospital but several upcoming royal engagements have been postponed or cancelled while Charles recuperates.

As the King recovers from the planned procedure, his daughter-in-law Kate is also currently resting following abdominal surgery for an undisclosed but non-cancerous condition.

Charles reportedly paid a visit to the Princess of Wales in her hospital room before being admitted to the clinic himself.

A royal source has said the Princess was “doing well” after the major surgery but information has been scarce since she was admitted to the London Clinic last week.

Kate’s condition means the royal is expected to cancel all royal duties until at least Easter time, with the Prince of Wales also cutting back on engagements to help look after the couple’s three children.

Meanwhile, the King’s estranged younger son Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle have also reportedly reached out to both Charles and the Princess of Wales following their hospitalisations.
