Where the Sun is Only Present for short Time in sri lanaka ?

Where Is Kohonawala Located in Sri Lanka?

If you’re visiting Madolsima, you must visit Kohonawala Village.

The Sri Lankan settlement of Kohonawala is distinctive.

In the Badulla district, the settlement of Kohonawala is situated away from the Passara Madolsima mountain range.

This community is unique since the sun only shines between nine in the morning and three in the afternoon due of the mountains that surround it.

This village’s unique feature is that it is encircled by mountains and situated on a slope of roughly 4500 feet.

History of Kohonawala Village

The people assert that King Walagamba is the origin of Koholane’s history, which is reflected in a number of stories.

When Konara, a king’s minister, was beaten in battle, he fled to this village, and today his descendants are referred to as Ranpat Mudianselage.

This village has a fascinating history. The descendants of the Ranpathmudians who participated in the 1818 uprising and supported it are hidden in this village. Since then, Kohonawala has been a settlement, and supporting that claim, only Ranpathmudianse’s generation continues to reside in this village now. On the other hand, it must be noted that everyone in the village is a relative of the Ranpat Mudiyanse family.

The residents of this village live quite attractive, independent lives. This remote village is encircled by a gorgeous mountain range, but few people are aware of it.

For instance, this little, remote village is unknown even to those who live nearby in Badulla. Crop cultivation and semi-farming are the main sources of income for the 45 households residing in the area.

How To Get To Kohonawala Village?

There are two entrances to Kohonawala. The route through Madolsima and the route from Badulla to Kahataruppa that crosses Loggal Oya.

The route through Madolsima

Madolsima and Kohonawala are separated by roughly 13 km. The only mode of transportation on foot.

When Loggal Oya is tranquil and peaceful, it is best to take the Kahataruppa route because it is reasonably straightforward to navigate.

Loggal Oya and the village are separated by a lack of a bridge, thus getting there requires crossing canals, which can be difficult during the rainy season. You need to walk about 9 kilometres to get to the settlement.
